5 Home Organization Hacks To Transform Your Home

It’s easy to let odds and end pile up in your home, or push a mess into a closet and tell yourself you’ll get around to cleaning it later. If your resolution for this new year was to stay organized, try these 5 easy home organization hacks to transform your home.

Shut The Front Door

(Or any door, really!)  Hanging shoe organizers are sneaky ways to convert a door into a storage device!  The fun doesn’t stop at just shoes – you can use these hangers for a wide variety of items.  Put one in the hall closet to organize your cold weather gear and never lose a mitten or stocking cap again!  Put another in your garage to keep loose nails, screws, and small items from going astray.  Don’t forget the kitchen – a small organizer is a perfect makeshift spice rack!

Clutter-Free Coffee Tables

It’s easy to let books, loose papers, and magazines accumulate on end tables, coffee tables, and really any flat surface they can make their new home on!  Living rooms tend to serve as a gathering place – not only for your loved ones, but for all of the paperwork that enters your house.  Designate a few folders, or even a two drawer lateral file to stash away the important stuff!  Not only will your flat surfaces remain clutter-free, it will allow for easy access to your important documents whenever you need them!

B is for Blender

Instruction manuals and receipts for appliances are almost impossible to keep track of.  Instead of letting the booklets pile up, prevent the mess by purchasing an accordion folder!  Label the slots from A-Z and file under the letter of the alphabet that the items fits.  (For example, a blender would go under B rather than the brand name.)  Storing in one place makes it easy to find the instructions without having to search the house!

Cord Control

Even in a world of hands-free devices and bluetooth gadgets, there is no escaping the inevitable tangled cord.  Tackle the tangle of cables hiding behind your entertainment center once and for all!  Cable caddies and zippers are effective at quelling the mess.  In a pinch?  Rummage around your house for a few loose bits and pieces – binder clips, bread ties, and even safety pins will go a long way!

Free The Fridge

A mistake that many families (including my own!) fall victim to is using the refrigerator as a sounding board.  You think everyone will see the messages you leave, but the truth is, they’re probably a little more interested in the leftovers or the glass of O.J. they’re reaching for.   Households still need a place to leave notes and mail and permission slips, so try hanging a bulletin board or convert a desktop picture frame into a mini chalkboard!

A clean home is a happy home!  Taking the time to keep your space organized not only makes it easier to find things in the future, it can be a great stress-reliever.  Next time you want to procrastinate, make it productive and get organized!  What are some of your favorite home organization hacks?
